Key Stage 2
During Year 5 and 6, PSHE education offers both explicit and implicit learning opportunities and experiences which reflect pupils’ increasing independence and physical and social awareness. Through close liaison with PSHE leads from our Whitley Bay First Schools, our spiral curriculum ensures that we build on the skills that pupils started to acquire in Year 3 and 4. In Upper Key Stage 2, we also prepare pupils to cope with the changes at puberty, introduces them to a wider world and enables them to make an active contribution to their communities.
The PSHE curriculum at Valley Gardens is inclusive of the objectives in the new statutory guidance for Relationships Education and Health Education (September 2020).
